Fixed Cameras – These cameras are fixed in one position, ideal for clients that need a specific area to be targeted, such as an alley or doorway.

PTZ Cameras – These cameras can be instructed remotely to pan, tilt and zoom. These have auto-tracking, and can focus on movement, estimate the size of the object which is moving and calculate the distance of the movement from the camera.

IR Cameras – Infrared cameras use reflected infrared light to show images that the human eye can’t see. These are ideal in areas where lighting is not practical or permitted.

A quick guide to CCTV DVRs/NVRs:

PC DVR Systems - Custom Built PC DVR Systems are easy to upgrade and scale. PC DVR Systems typically offer more computer processing power than standalone DVR systems which can be useful when deploying today's high resolution CCTV cameras or IP and network cameras.

DVR (Digital Video Recorder) – This records video in a digital format to a disk drive. Video footage from a CCTV camera is sent to a DVR, where it is encoded and processed.

NVR (Network Video Recorder) – is a software program that records video in a digital format to memory cards, or a mass storage device. Video on an NVR is encoded and processed at the camera, then streamed to the NVR for storage and viewing. An NVR is used with an IP (Internet Protocol) security system. With the increase in use of IP cameras, many DVRs are now ‘hybrid’ units able to handle both analogue and IP camera inputs. An ‘IP only’ system requires an NVR with no analogue inputs.
The NVR will record IP streams from cameras placed anywhere on an IP Network. Accessed and controlled by sophisticated software running on multiple PCs across the network, the NVR easily integrates with other CCTV, analytical and security systems. This system therefore lends itself to very easy and flexible expansion.
